Is BPC-157 legal in Australia?
BPC-157 is not registered on the ARTG, and no TGA-approved BPC-157 product exists. Following a scheduling decision published in May 2024, the Poisons Standard contains a Schedule 4 (prescription-only) entry for BPC-157. Tasman supplies it only as a research material for laboratory work, not for human use.

Is BPC-157 legal in Australia? BPC-157 is not registered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), so there is no TGA-approved BPC-157 product. The TGA's scheduling papers describe it as an unapproved medicine with no registered products, and the TGA names BPC-157 among the unapproved peptide products it has raised public health concerns about.
BPC-157 is in Schedule 4 of the Poisons Standard. The change began as a delegate-initiated proposal considered at the Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling meeting in November 2023 (ACMS #43). The TGA said it responded to 48 referrals for importation of BPC-157 received since 1 July 2022. The reasons given were that its therapeutic benefits in humans are largely unsubstantiated, that it lacks a clearly defined safety and toxicity profile, and that it poses a high risk of misuse in athletic, fitness, wellness and anti-ageing markets. The final decision to create a Schedule 4 entry was published on 22 May 2024, and the committee recommended an implementation date of 1 June 2024.
Schedule 4 is the prescription-only medicine schedule. The TGA's proposal notice described the effect of the new entry as restricting access to BPC-157 to prescription only, with possession of the substance without authority being illegal.
The TGA's scheduling papers also note that the World Anti-Doping Agency listed BPC-157 under its S0 Non-Approved Substances category, prohibiting its use in sport, in January 2022.
In its safety material the TGA states that it is unlawful to import, advertise, manufacture and supply unapproved peptide products in Australia, and lists enforcement options from warning letters and infringement notices to civil penalties and criminal prosecution. Tasman supplies BPC-157 as a research material for laboratory research only. It is not sold for human or veterinary use, and this site gives no advice on obtaining BPC-157 as a medicine.
