What is CJC-1295 with DAC?

CJC-1295 with DAC is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone built on the first 29 amino acids of the human hormone. It carries four amino acid substitutions and, at the C-terminus, a lysine bearing a maleimido group, the drug affinity complex (DAC). After injection that group bonds to albumin in the blood, which protects the peptide from breakdown and keeps it circulating. In rats it was still present in plasma beyond 72 hours, and in healthy adults its half-life was 5.8-8.1 days. It acts on the pituitary GHRH receptor to raise growth hormone release, and it is the molecule used in the published human trials of 'CJC-1295'.
